Located in the hilly northwest corner of Illinois, Apple River Canyon State Park offers incredible scenery including limestone, deep ravines, bluffs, waterways, springs, streams, and wildlife. Indeed, this scenic canyon area was formed by the action of the winding waters of the Apple River.


Apple River Canyon State Park is about 35 minutes east of Galena. Easily accessible to cars.

Galena has a humid continental climate, with cold winters, hot summers, and four seasons. So, bring hiking rain jacket with good hiking boots, and take plenty of water.
