1Linville Falls Hikes
Located in Pisgah National Forest, the Linville Falls area features a variety of moderate to hard hikes that offer easy access to beautiful views of Lineville Falls along with the gorge. Among the famous hiking trails in Lineville Falls is Erwin’s View Trail which is a 1.6-mile moderate hike. Although, the Linville Gorge Trail is another hike that is recommended, only, for experienced hikers.
2Elk Knob Summit Trail
Elk Knob Summit Trail is 1.8 miles hike, in north Boone, which features best views in the Boone area county. Reaching Elk Knob Summit is great family adventure hike weather in April snow or even after. In fact, Hikers will enjoy taking photos of amazing and scenic views of distant peaks, including the Virginia’s highest summit mount: Mount Rodgers, Mount Mitchell, Beech Mt., Sugar Mt., and Grandfather Mount.
3Price Lake Loop Trail
Located south of Boone, the Price Lake Loop is 2.2 miles trail that circles the beautiful Price Lake. Due to the flat terrain and short distance, the trail is good for anyone and offers beautiful views. Some areas of the trail could be muddy as a result of snows, rains or even beavers work.
4Crabtree Falls Trail
Crabtree Falls Trail is a 2.6 mile loop trail located on the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Linville Falls. This trail features forest, wild flowers, foliage and a 70 foot cascading waterfall. Besides, it is rated as moderate and partially rugged but manageable.

5Grandfather Mountain Trail
The Grandfather Mountain Trail is a 3.9 miles out and back trail located near Linville. This trail is rated as difficult and features beautiful wild flowers, bird watching and scenic views.
Even though the first mile is fairly easy, the Grandfather Mountain Trail is hard and not recommended for inexperienced hikers. In fact, to reach the Calloway Peak you have to traverse forest, rock outcroppings, ladders and attached cables.
6Rough Ridge Hike
Rough Ridge Hike is 2.5 miles out and back trail that features wildlife, beautiful rock outcroppings and great views of Grandfather Mountain. The trail is rated as moderate and it’s well maintained except some of the brush that grows up in the spring.
7Glen Burney Falls Trail
Glen Burney Falls is a 2.1 miles out and back trail located near Blowing Rock that features waterfall. Because of drop offs by the falls, Glen Burney Trail is only recommended for very experienced hikers. So, take care and stay on the trail.
